Political behavior and attitudes GLOBSEC Trends 2025 provides a comprehensive overview of Slovak citizens' attitudes towards security, geopolitics, the war in Ukraine, and the state of democracy. The data shows significant polarization within society, a low willingness to defend one's own country, and persistent distrust of institutions. Slovakia is the only country in the comparison where less than half of respondents declare their readiness to defend the state in the event of an attack, with a large part of the population relying on personal contacts as their main source of information. Attitudes toward the war in Ukraine are divided: half perceive Russia as a threat, but at the same time, support for narratives about the need for peace negotiations or territorial compromises is growing. Up to a third of Slovaks consider Russia a strategic partner, reflecting long-term geopolitical preferences and informational influences. The research points to low trust in the media and a high degree of conspiracy thinking, which weaken social resilience. Despite this, the public perceives civil society as an important element of democracy. The Slovak dataset thus reveals a society facing security, information, and value challenges.
